Idaho legislation is obsessed with policing people’s genitals. We actively have a bathroom ban on college campuses, community colleges, domestic violence shelters, and correctional facilities. A bill that would significantly expand that ban has passed the house floor and waits to be voted on by the Idaho Senate. Little to no thought has gone into how these bans will be policed, except the suggestion that the public take photos/videos of anyone who may be in the ‘incorrect restroom’. (which will, obviously, cause harm to the very people they claim to protect) And now, Idaho lawmakers have asked the Supreme Court to overturn gay marriage 🫩 This is all coming from a place of hatred, ignorance, and projection. Fighting for our rights

We are actively seeing our rights stripped away. From unconstitutional laws targeting the trans population to illegal detainment and imprisonment of immigrants (and anyone who ICE feels like attacking).

The fear is palpable, and our communities are struggling. Raising awareness, creating community, gathering resources, and protesting are essential right now.

This fall, I’ll be starting law school, where I hope to learn the skills I’ll need to challenge these unconstitutional laws on a legal level.

HB 264

Last year, House Bill 264 was introduced and ultimately passed into law in Idaho. It made it illegal for trans people to use the bathroom that aligns with their identity on college campuses, community colleges, in domestic violence shelters, and correctional facilities.

We are expecting an expansion on this law some time this session.
